Great Days

How was your week-end? I hope it was fun.  :) Please read on if you want to know how mine went.

Friday, Feb 23

This is our 52nd monthsary, 21 months of which are celebrated as a married couple. We decided to postpone the celebration to Monday, Feb 26. Morning and I took a leave from work for that day. We are planning to shop at Divi and have lunch at Binondo. We even have a list of what to buy and we have decided to eat at Wai Ying. We heard that the food is great there especially the Hakaw.

I wasn’t feeling great as i’m having terrible coughs that’s keeping me up at night. I think i’m having asthma attacks again.

Saturday, Feb 24

I wasn’t able to join the field service work because of low energy levels. I’ve been coughing profusely and wasn’t able to get a shut-eye.

I still managed to do the groceries despite of my condition. I need to see the pulmo badly.

Sunday, Feb 25

Still coughing and experiencing shortness of breath. Morning told me that we are going to postpone the Divi and Binondo trip because it will not be good for me. I am a little disappointed because I was so looking forward to it. But what can i do. It’s the best thing at the moment. I wouldn’t want my condition to worsen too. Besides i need to see my pulmo the next day. So i consented despite dismay.

We went out for return visits and bible studies in the afternoon. We were thrilled because we started a new bible study. :)
We tried out the Mother’s Best Sisig for dinner. It is highly recommended kasi it’s super yummy. It is quite a bargain for 83 pesos per 1/2 kilo. We also cooked adobong kangkong and bought San Mig light. Great combination!   :)
Monday, Feb 26

Morning suggested that we go to Habour Square. He said that the sea breeze will be good to my lungs. Seems like a good idea plus we get to bond with B.boy too. We were there by 10 am. B.boy is bursting with energy, trying to catch the birds that are looking for food in the pavement.  :D

We went inside Starbucks at around 11 am. Mejo mainit na kasi sa labas. We ordered Java Chip and Oatmeal cookies. Little boy loved the cookies. There was this young woman who keeps looking at B.boy. Maybe she was amused to see him eating. Kasi naman si B.boy nakakatuwa panooring kumakain. Super ganado.  :)  In a little while B.boy was smiling at her. hahaha! Papacute.  :)  She then requested to carry him. Nung ibibigay ko na bigla ba naman umayaw. Flirt! hahahaha!

In a little while he fell asleep. Napagod din. We just lingered inside. That Starbucks has a very great view of the harbour. You can see the ferry going to Corregidor, the Tennessee Walker and the various yatch owned by rich people.  Sayang di namin dala yung camera.

We had lunch at Tokyo Cafe at Mall of Asia. Food is okay. I’m just a bit disappointed because it wasn’t what i expect. I thought it is a Jap resto. Hindi pala. Looking forward pa naman ako kumain ng maki but their menu don’t have it. Their prices are affordable though. Our bill is only 500 bucks, may dessert na yun na kasama.  :)
Nakakatuwa kasi si B.boy very behave nung kumakain kami. Before, Morning and I couldn’t eat a meal together when we’re with B.boy. Pero ngayon pwede na. Kasi enjoy din shang kumakain kasabay namin.  :)
After our meal, father and son rode the carousel. Ansaya-saya nila. Here are some photos. Pardon the resolution as it was taken using a low tech phone.

It is a memorable day for the 3 of us. I love our family. I love the 2 boys.  :)

Planning our First 2007 Getaway

Published by nice under Family, Travel

Mama and Papa confrimed that they will be here for the Holy Week. Yipeee! We are all excited.  :) You see, they seldom come over because they’re running the hardware in Ilocos. My dad’s last visit was when B.boy was born and to think he has only seen his grandson twice. Mama visited us this month and we treated her to a dinner in Greenbelt. This time, they will be here for 4 days, starting Arpil 4 to 8. I’m sure they will have loads of fun with B.boy.

Since they’ll be coming over, we are organizing a trip to Tagaytay. It’s been ages since they last went there. We used to go there weekly when i was just around 4 years old. We will buy beef and sell it in Cavite. Oh! my sister and i loved those trips with our old Beetle. Whenever we go home the Beetle was full of beef and senorita bananas.   :)  I’m sure the folks will reminisce the good old times when they return.

We are planning for an overnight stay. We’ll leave Friday morning and return Saturday afternoon. We must plan and book the accomodations early as people will go on holiday too. I’m thinking of staying at Sonya’s Bed and Breakfast but the rates almost kill me. It’s 2,800 per person and since there will be 6 of us, it’s a whooping 16,800 for an overnight stay.    :(    Next option is Nurture Spa. We’ve been there last year and had a great time. Their room rate is 2,500 and it is good for 2 people. We can get an extra bed for 500. If we are get 2 rooms and 2 extra beds, it would cost us 6K. Not bad! But we found something better.

One blog mentioned Mi-Jo Hotel. I got curious and looked at their website. It looks promising and the rates are very reasonable. The location is great too. It’s very near the dining places. They have a Manila number so I called them up and reserve. Since it’s the Holy Week, they asked me to deposit 50% of the Family Room rates. The person I talked to was very nice and i will make the deposit after discussing it with Morning. I guess he will agree with my choice since it is more economical. We can use the extra money eating out.  :)
Oh how I miss Bag O’Beans! Would you know if shops and restaurants would be open?

11 Months

Published by nice under Andre Miguel

At 11 months our B.boy

  • Has a total of 7 teeth.
  • Eats table food. He’s not picky. He even likes vegetables.
  • Is becoming more independent. He prefers holding his own bottle when drinking water or milk.
  • has perfected his pincer grasp. He is now very amused with small things and tries to pick it up using his thumb and forefinger…tapos isusubo.  :p So we try to give him finger foods para yun yung safe na isubo nya.
  • Perfected crawling. You should see him move, he’s super agile.  :)
  • He walks while holding onto furnitures and scoops up a toy while he’s standing.
  • developed his language skills. He can match names to objects. Our favorite game is “show me”. I’ll ask him to something and he’ll point it in return. He knows mommy, daddy, aso-oso, tur-toy, bob (his toy truck), ball, moon, flowers, birds, lizard, nose, pusod. I’m amazed! Whenever we ask him where’s the lizard, he’ll point and imitate the lizard sound by clicking his tongue.  :)  And oh! he puts the cellphone in his ear when he hears us say “hello mommy”.  kakaaliw!
  • becoming more sociable. He readily gives a smile whenever we say “picture-picture”. O di ba, stariray!  :D
  • now enjoys his soft books.
  • dances “taktak mo” of the EB babes.  :p

Breastfeeding Experience: 7 Months and UP

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Breastfeeding

I’ve been super busy these past few days that i wasn’t able to continue the Breastfeeding Experience post.  :( But it’s better late than never right?

So where was I? Ah, 7 months and beyond.  :) Breastfeeding is a breeze at this point. I have grown accustomed to expressing milk at work and direct feeding during holidays and week-ends. B.boy has also started eating solids so his milk intake is not that ravenous as before.   :D That put an end to my pumping-like-crazy routine.

However, it wasn’t all bed of roses either. Hiss teeth came in one by one and now he has 7.  Sometimes he would bite, other times he would scrape. It really hurts, i tell you. We notice that he is prone to biting when he’s teething. Probably the gums are itchy and biting brings relief. So what do I do? The article from KellyMom helps. It offers the following tips which proved to be tried and tested in my case :

Stopping the nursing session is generally the most effective way to teach baby that nursing and biting do not go together. Once baby lets go, remove her from the breast for a bit - it may be a few seconds or a few minutes (this is something where you’ll need to gauge your own baby’s reaction). If baby is teething (which is often the cause of biting), this is a good time to hand baby something cold to chew on, a teething toy, etc. You might tell baby something along the lines of, “if you want to bite, we’re not nursing.” If baby really wants to keep nursing, she may get upset when you end the nursing session, at which point you can wait a few moments then give baby another chance to nurse. If baby is not interested in nursing, she might fuss a few seconds but then go on to something else.

If baby bites, it’s not a good idea to scream or yell on purpose as a method to stop biting — there are better ways to teach baby not to bite. Sometimes, of course, it’s impossible not to yell in pain if baby catches you by surprise and/or bites hard. Sometimes yelling does stop baby from biting again; however, some babies think it’s so funny that they continue to bite for the reaction, and other babies are so scared that they go on a nursing strike. The chance that this method will stop baby biting is simply not worth the problems it can cause.

When we started on solids, we feed him first and nurse afterwards. At the beginning, we give him solids once a day. Then we increase it to twice. Now he is eating 3 times a day. He’s milk and solids intake is good and his healthy body is an undebatable proof.

At the rate he is going now, i don’t think weaning is imminent.  :)
