We hit the 1 year mark!

Published by nice at 12:59 pm under Breastfeeding, Family

Kudos to us for we had a full year of successful breastfeeding!  :) We never thought that we could reach this far but we did.

The past 3 weeks had been exceptionally hard. I had a flu for 2 days and it somehow affected the let-down reflex. No matter how i pump i can only get a trickle. As a result my breast was engorged. What made matters worse is that i was too weak to hold B.boy and feed him directly. Haaaay! It was too frustrating. We feared that the milk supply would dry up.

A couple of days after i got well, i still don’t have enough supply. Before i could get at least 6 ozs per pumping session, now i get only 2 ozs. I took Natalac 3x day and decreased my pumping interval. It was only this week that the supply went back to normal.

We are happy to still continue breastfeeding past the 1 year. As for weaning, i don’t think it will come any time soon. Mommy, Daddy and B.boy are not yet ready to give up at this point.  :)

Congrats! I’m at 10 months now myself and never did I think I’d make it this far. I thought at first, “let’s try and see;” then, “let’s get to one month;” then, “How about three months?;” finally, at 6 months I just said “alright, let’s see how far we can take this.”

hi nice, congrats for getting this far on breastfeeding! wish i could do it too! I’m now on my 2nd month :) question lang, how did u train miguel to take the bottle? My baby kasi won’t take the bottle tlg since I’ve been direct feeding him since birth.

Thanks B! We had the same experience. :)
hi issa! Congrats on your baby. :) Dati din ganyan kami. Pero i started training him to take the bottle in the second month. Back to work na kasi ako soon. What we did is we have someone other than me to do the bottle feeding. Kasi if you do it yourself, less successful daw. So i leave home for a while like 3 hours, then yaya will bottle feed. Gradually, i lengthen the time interval to 8 hours. Ok naman. :)
I don’t know if it helps or marketing strategy lang ng Avent pero sabi nila na almost the same daw yung bottles nila with our breast. We use those bottles pero di ko alam kung dahil dun kaya madali na train si baby na mag take ng bottle.

    hth!

hi nice, thanks for the tips, siguro i shld try leaving the house din while my mom is bottlefeeding miguel kc di ko matiis pag umiiyak na sya, ang tendency ko is to direct feed :) though im planning to go back to work after his 6th month pa, i wonder kung trainable pa sya nun!

you’re most welcome. Yah, try training him this early so that both of you will be ready when you return to work….kahit after 6 months pa. :)
True yan…pag narinig natin yung iyak ng baby haaaaay! pupuntahan at pupuntahan natin yan para i-console. So do try to leave for a while and let someone else do the bottle feeding. Minsan maarte lang din sila pag anjan ang mommy. Pag wala na…no choice. hahahaha!

I hope you get him to take the bottle soon. :)
