Pasalubong
I got this from our online friend wikipedia
Pasalubong is a Filipino word meaning “souvenir”. In the Philippines it has acquired the meaning of a small gift or souvenir from someone traveling either whilst visiting or upon returning home. The literal meaning of pasalubong is to “greet”, “surprise” or “meet with”.
Pasalubong is very popular among Filipinos if good relations are to be maintained. Pasalubong can range from food items such as fruits, imported confectionery goods and other sweets. Pasalubong can also be other items such as shirts, novelty items, knives and toys etc. If it is something that can be bought or wrapped, it’s a pasalubong. Pasalubong is also used in daily or frequent interactions or greetings with family members commonly when coming home from work. Fastfood, toys, snacks or fruits are given to family members as a sign of thoughtfulness and care to them.”
I personally think that this is a good part of our Filipino culture. It really shows how thoughtful we are to our family and friends that we bring something home to them. This is also the reason why we are known for big Balikbayan boxes. Hahaha!
So where is this post leading to? Hmmm….just thanking my generous sister for the pasalubongs she showered us. Here is what she gave to her nephew who is by the way enjoying it for the past few days.
And here’s for M0rn1ng and I.
Even the littlest pasalubong makes me happy because it shows that we are thought of. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much sis. Mwah!!!! ![]()

yeah Mich, she’s indeed sweet and she has pasalubong for each and everyone close to her.
Kaya di bale na mag over-over sa baggage limit basta may maiuwi lang sa mga mahal sa buhay. ahehehehe
Sabagay i love bringing pasalabongs too, esp if i’m coming home from work. Little things lang naman pero it shows that we thought of them while we are away.
