We brought a big Talakitok from Ilocos last Wednesday and made it into a yummy sweet and sour dish last Sunday.

Since it is too big for our frying pan, we cut it into two, fried it and set aside. We then sautéed some garlic, onions, tomatoes, and ginger in the pan. Then we added some carrots and potatoes. I a separate bowl, we mixed some banana ketchup, sugar, vinegar, and ground pepper. We don’t have any tomato sauce or paste in the cupboard so we made do with ketchup. Hahaha! We mixed it all together and threw it in the pan. We added the strips of bell pepper as soon as the sauce thickened.

We then garnished it with spring onions. It was so yummy and everyone had their fill.

I just love our family house backyard. Mama is very fond of plants and flowers so she has a lot in her garden. Her favorite are orchids. But what i love the most the are wild ones that escapes your eyes most of the times. But if you look closely, you’ll see a captivating beauty.
