Investing

I’m working in a financial information company that sells all sorts of data, from real time stock prices to company fundamentals, broker research, commodities, bonds, Options. You name it we have it. Since we have access to these different kinds of data, most of our employees have some investment in the stock market. But it is useless unless you really know the ins and outs of trading.

I’ve been reading some books but I’m still afraid to try because of the risks that it involves. Other than that, my knowledge is very limited. I don’t even know what covered calls means. Hahaha! But sometimes I’m tempted to try just to maximize the wealth of information that we could use in the work place.

JP & Tin’s wedding

Yesterday was Tin’s wedding, yup I know, it’s our second for this month. I’ve known her since we were in high school. We bonded easily as we are both from Manila which transferred to Ilocos at the same time. His dad and my dad are classmates from grade school to high school and are very good friends. We started being close when I began riding in their van going to and from school. We instantly clicked and I loved sharing with her everything and anything under the sun. We parted ways after my high school graduation when I went to Manila for college.

We reconnected once again a few years back. Thanks to YM! I remember how happy I am when she told me that he has a boyfriend and that they’re planning to get married after. We were supposed to meet year 2006 but I gave birth and became busy.

It is a very happy occasion and they have a great wedding. She looks so lovely and radiant in her wedding dress and my heart swell with happiness as she marries the perfect guy for her. Though it was only at the wedding that I met JP, I know how much she loves Tin. I know they will find bliss and happiness in each other’s arms. I’m proud for Tin whom I consider a younger sister for braving the storm and emerging victorious. I don’t know if I can be as successful as she is had I been put in her shoes.

Saving

The peso-dollar exchange rate closed at 40.55 yesterday. Financial analysts forecast that it will still drop to 38 this year. That is really depressing news especially to OFWs who send monthly remittance to their families here. Their salaries stays the same but their money is reduced as soon as they send it home because of the current exchange rate. But there are things beyond individual’s control.

There are other things to do in order keep afloat. One way is cutting back on unnecessary expenses. International phone calls costs a lot but it is a necessary expense if you are far away from your home and family. Good thing that there are still ways to save on this. IConnectHere is a Global Internet Phone Service that offers the new World Plan Unlimited. For only $29.99 per month, customers get unlimited calls to any destination. All new customers will get a $30 sign up bonus. This would mean that your first month is actually FREE. This is a great plan for those who are looking to save on international calls.

Resolutions

These set of questions are nice to answer so I snagged this from Alpha’s site.  It is still the first month of the year so it is still a perfect time to think about these:

1. Do you make New Year’s resolutions or personal goals?
No. Just personal short term goals that I believe is achievable by the end of the year.

2. Have you ever kept a New Year’s resolution? Achieved a personal goal?
I did achieve personal goals on a time frame but not 100% of them. If get 80% of them done then I’m happy.

3. What things are you always resolving to do but never actually do?
Live and eat healthy. Avoid stress. I’m always a magnet of stress and negative things that make me physically sick. haha!

4. Why do you think most people fail to uphold their New Year’s resolutions?
Lack of focus and commitment.

5. Share the thing you most want to do this year and describe five steps you will take to make it happen.
~ Save and generate income. Steps: Sticking to the budget, find ways to earn money without sacrificing spiritual things, find good investments, be focused, and pray for God’s blessings.

That was fun! I hope I would be able to do item number five.

Good News Bad News

As you all know G did an update a few days ago. The result is both good and bad for me. My old site got smacked and its PR is brought down to zero. But my newest one had a taste of PR three. I’ve read that this is because of G’s battle with link selling. We don’t have much control of that but still we maintain our blogs to be outlet of out thoughts and a way to earn some money too. There’s going to be though times ahead until all the war is over. It will be survival of the fittest for now.

So I’m looking for other ways of generating money through blogs then I stumbled upon Net Audio Ads. It is an audio only advertising channel backed by one of the BIG 5 search engines. It works on a bid management system and publishers will earn revenue on 100% of their traffic. This is great! No more clicks or links.

It is a way for advertisers like Harley Davidson of Taco Bell to target their 5 second audio ad to specific interest, demographics and geographic location.

I’m so interested to try it out. I should sign up before Feb 1, 2008 to maximize my revenue on the affiliate program. Besides, registering is free. After that said date, the program will convert to a “host Only” model which means that I will only be making revenue from the ads placed on my site.

This is pretty exciting. Visit their site if you want to know more.
