Hapy Friday!

It’s the last day of the week and it’s the last working day of August. I’m so happy! It’s BER months once again and that is the sign that year end is fast approaching. I’m looking forward to our family trip in Davao come October. Then our commission, paluwagan, and 13th month pay on November. My sick leave conversion and Christmas basket will be on December. I’m so glad because I didn’t use much of my sick leave this year. I have to thank GOD for the good health that I’m enjoying at the moment. I wasn’t this healthy these past few years. Now I know the value of relaxation, not having yourself be affected with problems and casting all your burdens to the heavenly father.

So I’m happy despite all the problems and tensions. I’m happy even though we haven’t found a place to transfer our shawarma stall yet. Amazing that it’s been a month that we’re running in just one income household and we still manage to stay afloat. God is really gracious to those who trust and serve him. Things are still crazy in my work and career. But I just do the best that I can in every situation and live each day at a time. It helps as it prevents me from being too overwhelmed and stressed.

Our goal is to save as much as we can this year so that we will have more options next year. I oftentimes fear the unknown and preparing for it alleviates the fear somehow. I just don’t want to be in a position that we will be stuck into something that we don’t like because we have no other choice. With M0rn1ng’s help we had made a significant improvement in lowering our expenses. Pwede naman palang matipid.

I know I stated it over and over in this blog that I wanted this year to end badly. I wanted to get a glimpse on what out team’s future will be. I wanted stability and security. I hope that fervent wish will be granted next year. For now, I will savor the weekend. :)

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Join us here! :)

1. When you see a man and woman walking together, do you automatically see them as ‘a couple’?
:: Nope…unless it’s pretty obvious as they are holding hands or doing PDA. :)

2. Is it always okay to walk along minding your own business, not bothering anyone?
:: Yes. I don’t like nosy people like those commenting about other’s people’s weight, or asking you if you are using the best acne treatments or why you are still single or childless. It’s just too annoying.

3. Which foods that you believe are bad for you that you stubbornly refuse to stop eating?
:: COKE!!!! I wanted to quit but it’s too irresistable especially on a hot day.

4. How would you handle these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights?
::Rainy day – stay at home and cuddle with my boys
Lost luggage – Find it. If not, then forget it.
Tangle Christmas Tree Lights – Have my hubby fix it. hehehehe

5. Do you easily adopt habits or phrases from the people around you?
:: Yes. :)

6. What do you think of this situation?
~ In a checkout line at a store, someone is angrily yelling at the cashier because she’s waiting for minutes already. A long line of people are behind them with no other checkout line available. Does the angry person have a right to be yelling?
:: Nope there are better ways of dealing with this situation rather than yell. :) I’ve always admired people who still shows grace under not so good circumstances.

7.How often are you greeted by strangers in a friendly manner while walking around in public?
:: A lot. Maybe people find my face friendly too. :)

8. What do you think of Crocs?
:: They’re great and comfy. My sis in law Vivian recently gave me an Alice and I love it.

9. How long does it take you to get ready to go out?
:: An hour. It’s not easy to prepare when you have a kid.

10. What kind of accent do you find attractive?
:: French!!!! It’s sounds sexy. hehehehe

Dealing with Rigidity

This article from BabyCenter hit the nail in its head.

Again! Again!” The Teletubbies have this mantra for a reason: A hallmark of this age is repetition. Your little one may want to eat the same things again and again, wear the same clothes day after day, or do things in the exact same order. Remember that he’s trying to make sense of the world, and keeping certain things unvarying is his way of exercising a little control in all the hubbub of life. Rituals provide comfort.

That said, rigidity can get a little hard to live with. Indulge such behaviors when it’s really not a big deal. But if your preschooler’s demand is unreasonable or inappropriate (wanting to watch TV during dinner, ordering a guest to get out of “Daddy’s chair”), refuse calmly but firmly. You might trigger a tantrum, but ultimately you’re the boss.

Our little boy is exhibiting the same behavior for this past few months. Like last time when he saw our visitor wore my slippers, he demanded that I take it back. It was very embarrassing because he threw a tantrum when I told him that our visitor is just borrowing it and will return afterwards. I have to bring him upstairs to calm him down.

Then last night, I gave him his vitamins but he refused. He saw that it is different from what he is used too. Sana di na lang ako bumili ng ibang brand. He threw a fit and even puked when I forced it on his mouth. Ano kayang gagawin ko dun sa vitamins nya? I have to revert back to the old brand kasi yun lang ang i-te-take nya.

Haaaay kids! :)

Fun at Knotts Berry Farm

We were on one of these Los Angeles tours and I was with M0rn1ng and the little boy. We got these Knotts berry farm tickets and we decided to give it a try. We’ve heard that this is a place to have fun with your kids. The little boy loved rides so we thought that he will enjoy the place for sure. We first tried the Wheeler Dealer Bumped Cars. We had fun because the little boy has a knack for driving. M0rn1ng put him in his lap and the little boy managed the steering wheel. They had fun chasing and bumping me. We had three rounds as the little boy enjoyed himself tremendously.

After that we went to see Camp Snoopy. It is home to the beloved Peanuts gang. The 15 rides for small children are perfect for the little boy and he tried them all. It was getting a bit tiring so M0rn1ng and I sat down. We had a funny conversation and he said that he will get something to drink. So I waited for him.

When he came back, he asked me where our little boy is. I was so afraid because I couldn’t see him anywhere nearby. I began to panic and looked around all the while shouting our little boy’s name. I was near tears as I couldn’t find him anywhere.

Then, I heard Morn1ng’s loud laugh. I was so surprised to hear him laugh out loud. I asked him why. Then he told me that little boy is on my back. I was carrying him in a sling all along. How could I be so forgetful and absent minded? Anyway, I breathed a sigh of relief and had a good laugh afterwards.

M0rn1ng woke me up and I found out that it was all a dream. I remember that I’ve been looking at tours and travel pages from Trusted Tours & Attractions. I even signed up in their newsletter to have a chance to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate. I guess, I had too much and dreamt about it. Hahahaha!

First Family Long Road Trip

I took a half day leave at the office today. I have to prepare for our road trip tomorrow. We are going home to Ilocos. Papa just recently went out from the hospital and we wanted to pay him a visit. It will be the first time that our little boy will be in such a long car drive. Previously, we ride the plane for convenience. Now that he is a little bit older, I think he is ready for long trips. I hope he is.

I any case, I’m packing his whole entertainment showcase. That includes his favorite toys and Dora and Barney DVDs. I also have to make sure that his clothes and shoes are comfortable. Speaking of which, I have to ensure that my attire is comfy too. I’ve been eyeing those Asgi shoes for this trip but I don’t think it is available locally. If only I can order online and have this delivered here, then I would be so happy.

Anyway, I would start packing all the things that we need after I finish all these writing assignments. We won’t stay there long as we’re going back on Monday but if you’re traveling with a child, you will always have lots of things to pack. Hahaha!

I hope we all have a great time. It’s been four months since we last saw them.

Happy Without a Nanny

Yes you read it right. We are without a nanny for a month and a half now. And I say that life is better. We might do a lot of things around the house but we have eliminated our source of stress. Not to mention na nakakatipid pa kami.

So what’s our usual routine? My sister i cooks breakfast. She also cleans the house every other day. When I wake up, I usually blog, prepare little boy’s breakfast and feed him. Then I prepare to go to work. M0rn1ng washes the dishes and takes care of the little boy.

Our part time baby sitter arrives are 4pm and looks after B.boy. M0rn1ng then goes to supervise the food cart biz. My youngest sister n, cooks dinner. Then we just hire a laundry woman to wash the clothes weekly.

Things have changed for the better because our major headache is gone. Di na ako araw araw nagagalit at nahi-high blood. Grabe! We’ve tried teaching the last househelp/nanny for a year pero wala talaga shang improvement when it comes to work. Also, B.boy has gained a lot of weight because M0rn1ng and the babysitter feed him properly. Finally, we are at peace.

Ok, just want to update some of the household happenings here in my blog. Got to go and check some online auto insurance quotes for a friend.
