Some Thoughts About My Job

The current financial crisis rocks the whole world. We are really affected as we are serving the financial industry. Although they’ve said that we are in a pretty good shape to weather this storm, the company is now being prudent. We are on freeze hiring mode at the moment and most of the temp employees will no longer have their contract renewed.

Ever since the integration started early this year, I’ve been itching to explore and see what opportunities are out there for me. Things are getting difficult as the months pass and I don’t know if I am going to see a silver lining in all of these. So what’s keeping me to look for other jobs? The top reason is I’m scared. I’m so scared to move away from my comfort zone. I’ve been here for eight long years and I’ve practically grew up with the company. This is my first and only company. Even if I changed jobs in that span of years, it is still different if I’m going to a different organization. Then, I’m also thinking of what I really want moving forward. I have to think about that and move my career accordingly.

I think I want to have a work at home job…something like a project work and I don’t have to work full straight hours. I’ve seen some admin jobs in the US which offers this kind of arrangement. I just hope that this is something feasible here in our country too. I gave myself a deadline and I hope I can decide what is right for us by then.

B.boy at 30 Months…

The little boy had another round of immunization yesterday. It was supposed to be last Sept 15 but he was nursing a fever that time so it got delayed until he really got better. We were so happy on how it turned out because one, he did not cry at all. He cooperated when they got his weight and height and the routine check up. Then we told him that the doctor will just check his buttocks so he has to lie down face down. I was entertaining him with toys and the doctor inserted the needle without him knowing. Hahahaha! But he did noticed as he said, “Mommy, satit” (mommy, it hurts). I told him that he was bitten by an ant and the doctor was wiping him with alcohol so that it will go away.

He also gained a pound since the last check up two weeks ago. So I guess the culprit is really the milk. He wasn’t getting enough before. Now he takes 6 ozs of milk four times a day.

Since we were so proud of his progress, we treated him at Jollibee for lunch. He ate his chicken joy, rice and fries with gusto. He’s really growing up too fast and I’m slowly weaning him from my breast. (more on that later) His next check up is scheduled when he turns three. He will be given Hepa A vaccine.

Is Provincial Life For Us?

In our province, the rich people own the BIG bus lines. If you live near Espana, Manila area then you might be familiar with Farinas, RCJ and Franco. These are owned by affluent families in our hometown, which makes me think if this kind of business made them rich. Maybe transportation is really a lucrative business.

So I’m thinking if it is worthwhile to scout for bus for sale and have it operate in our province. I’ve been toying with the idea of living in the province as life is simpler not to mention cheaper there. I’m so tired of the hustle and bustle of city life and if ever it is possible to have a place of our own, I want it to be there.

What’s keeping me from going that direction? Well, M0rn1ng is used to city life and he has never tried staying in the province for a long time. It will be a lot of adjustment for him not to mention that he has to learn the dialect too. But who knows, we might steer into this direction in the coming years.
