Oh Boy Ondoy

The whole world knows what happened to the Philippines last Saturday. It was probably the worst typhoon disaster that hit our country for the past 1,000 years. Ondoy even dumped more rains that Hurricane Katrina brought in New Orleans. The creek located just beside our house overflowed up to knee-high and fortunately everyone was safe. In our area, the flood was neck deep and our neighbors car was submerged with water. I just hope that our friends in other parts of Metro Manila are all safe.

House Repaint

We decided to paint the house so that it would look new and spacious. Morning started painting the kitchen cabinets and our little boy liked it at first but insisted that it should be colored green. We said that we’ll just color our room cabinet with green so that he won’t cry anymore. He’s done repainting my sister’s room with white and our room was light yellow. Next week he intends to finish painting the bathroom and walls in our living room. He also bought new light bulbs to replace the old ones that would make interior look clearer and brighter. If you have any suggestions regarding outdoor lighting we’ll be happy to give a try.

He’s an Acrobat

Our little boy is not into running and jumping. He seldom runs around. We’re happy that he’s still trying his hand on basketball despite that. He can dribble but he can’t shoot the ball as it requires a little bit of bouncing and jumping.

However, he’s really good at tumbling and doing acrobatics. When we were in HK, he saw some guys doing street dance. He was so amazed by what he saw. The people are cheering the dancers on and clapping their hands after the stunts.

I was surprised the next day that he wass trying to copy the street dance routine. I nearly fell off. I shouldn’t have let him watch that had I knew he would be imitating it. Anyways, he cried when I reprimanded him. So what can I do but allow him to do his stunts in the bed. At least we know that he won’t hurt himself there as long as we keep an eye on him.

It taught me a lesson not to let him watch dangerous sports like skateboards flipping and turning on skaetboard ramps. He might just imitate it.

Celebration

We always celebrate at the end of our garage sale. It’s nothing extravagant. A box of pizza, chicken and coke will do. Since we didn’t have much this time, we decided to just cook spaghetti and we’ve ordered chicken from KFC. :) For sure it will be a feast again. I will have to forget diet for now. hahaha! Next day, I would be so guilty that I will be again searching for weight loss products.

I know it’s crazy! :)

Anyway, I am happy since Friday as I was able to accompany little boy to the learning center for 2 straight meetings. I like the teacher running the center as she is very observant and provides generous feedback on our son’s progress. We are most likely enrolling him after the free trial finishes.

Got Rid of Clutter

Since we live in a small house, we’ve learned to hang on to what is essential. If we have stuff that we’re not using for a long time (6 mos or more), we will get rid of them. This enables us to have more breathing space at home.

We hold garage sales every 6 months and it is a success every time. I don’t have work today so I manned it. We have fewer items this time so we have fewer sales. But it’s alright! We were only left 1/4 of the total items we had on sale. The in demand items are the M0rn1ng’s clothes. B.boy didn’t have much this time as it was all sold last time.

We were able to generate 2,000 bucks. Not bad huh?! We got more space at home, said goodbye to clutter and earned some money. :)

I Hope Age is Just a Number

We’re nearly at the end of September and it’s barely 8 months and we’re at the end of the year. I’m not so looking forward to 2010. This is my last year on the 20 something bracket and 3-0 is such a dreadful number. It looks and sounds sooooo old.

A few years more, I’ll get those unwanted pounds, lines and wrinkles. Yesterday, I was searching the net and a best wrinkle cream ad has caught my attention. I was thinking if I would be needing one soon. What do you think?

HK Trip : Day 1

I know it’s late but I’d better write this before I forget everything. :)

First day was spent on travelling. We left Manila for HK at 10am and we we’re there by 12pm. They noticed that B.boy and I are coughing so we were asked to go to the clinic and have our temperature checked again. After that they gave us some hospital numbers so that we know where to go if we get fever.

We were out at around 12:30 and we had lunch at BK. After eating, we changed our money and bought Airport express tickets. We bought 2 groups of 4 so it only costs us HKD 55 each. I know that we could have saved more by taking the bus but we’re in a hurry to get to Macau that day.

At around 2:30pm, we were at Kowloon. We deposited our luggage at the hotel and we’re bound to ride the ferry. It took us a lot of time as we didn’t know that we can ride the ferry straight from Kowloon. From Prat Ave, we walked till we saw the Star Ferry.

We took it and went to Central. From Central, we walked a long way to Macau Ferry Terminal. It was almost 6pm when we arrived and we’re so exhausted.

The ferry ride took an hour and we docked at Tampa Ferry. From there are Venetian buses and it only took us 10 mins to Venetian. The hotel was so grand is so is our room. We all love it. :)

We just freshened up a little and we had dinner at the food court at the 3rd floor. I just love how they decorated the whole place. It feels like that you’ve been transported to Venice with the canals that circle the whole place. You’ll feel the ambience of alfresco dining as they painted the ceiling with a very vivid sky.

I Love Weekends

Who doesn’t? It’s the time to bond with the family and we get to cook special food at home. :)

I bought Mother Earth’s sisig yesterday when we did our grocery shopping. They have the best sisig and everyone in our house love it. We had it for lunch today on our sizzling plate. We paired it up with bataw (edible pots) salad. We had coke and ice cream for dessert. Obviously, I was stuffed to the full.

One of our friends commented that I’m gaining weight. I expect that as I’m ageing and metabolism is not as fast as it was before. Besides, I admit that I eat more than ever. I’ve been realizing the need to exercise and hit the gym but I’m too lazy to do those stuff. I think I prefer taking diet pills and watch what I eat.

Last Friday’s Good News

It has been a great Friday for me when I heard the news. At long last, the thing that we’ve been waiting for is finally going to happen. I hope that it’s good as I imagined it would be.

I begin to think that patience is really a virtue and one must sometimes persevere to get the things that he wants. Sometimes we must face the adversity and work through it as it is the only way that your hard work will be rewarded.

I am happy because I think it is a start of something good. :) I’ll share it in detail as soon as it has been finalized.

Leather Bags

Just got back from Hong Kong and I noticed this chain of bag stores called Milan Station in Mong Kok. They were selling pre-owned leather bags and the store has a wonderful selection of bags which will appeal to ladies who have a keen sense of fashion on a budget. I was eyeing some nice leather LV bag but i still find it too pricey. Maybe I’ll just go online shopping so that I could find one that could fit my budget. However, there are letdowns in buying online like inaccurate orders and slow shipping. But nowadays ecommerce fulfillment services are available in the web that can assure us of fast and error free delivery.
