Kolokoy!

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Mommy Talks

dora-boots-monkey-high-five.jpgdora-boots-monkey-high-five.jpgThis one really cracked us up 2 days ago while having lunch. We were watching Dora while having our meal.

Sister1 : Sis, what is the name of Dora’s monkey sidekick?
Me : Hmmm…. I have no idea
M0rn1ng: Ask B.boy. He knows.

Me: B.boy what’s the name of the Dora’s monkey friend?
B.boy: thinks…
Me: Do you know his name?
B.boy: Opo. Unggoy!!!!

Hahahahaha!

I googled it and found out that the correct name is BOOTS! :)

His New Milk

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, M0rn1ng, Mommy Talks

One of the greatest difficulty I have with B.boy a few months back is switching him to drink other milk. I find it hard to continue expressing milk while in the office because of the additional responsibilities I took on. I found it difficult to experience letdown because of stress too. And seeing the so little milk that I express makes me depressed even more.

But the problem is, the little boy won’t take any milk unless it’s breast milk. We’ve tried lactum, pediasure, nido, fresh milk among others but he makes a lot of excuses not to drink it. As a result, his weight dropped a little.

We discovered the new alternative when he tasted the sample of Bear Brand’s busog lusog. It’s a cereal drink pretty much like nesvita and the target consumer are kids. Bear Brand TV commercials helped a lot too. Soon I was making his own cereal drink from oats and BB milk. Then finally, he is now okay to drink the milk on it’s own. Nasanay na siguro sa lasa. M0rn1ng and I was so happy. Yung affordable pala yung gusto nya. At least di nya papahirapan ang bulsa namin. :)

Grown Up

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Mommy Talks

Seems like he can already read eh?  And Sports Page?  He’s just like his dad who adores the Sports Page. He likes reading nowadays.  He asks us to read him Bible Stories before he goes to sleep at night.  He also likes Mother Goose nursery rhymes and he can recite most of it on his own.  I should take a video of him reciting a rhyme one of these days.

Proud of Our Little Boy

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Mommy Talks

One thing I’m proud of our little boy is that he knows how to socialize. Whenever there are visitors in our house, he would recite the nursery rhymes he knows and if he’s really game, he’ll even sing a song or two. He also likes to play with other kids and older children like the age of 4 to 7 adores him.

Here he is playing with Ate Rina’s son. We stayed at their house when we visited Singapore and in just a few days, he made a new friend. He had the time of his life playing with kuya James.

dsc05374.jpg

Yesterday, we were sitting with a little girl around the age of 6. They had a grand time playing during the assembly’s intermission. I’m confident that he will be well adjusted when it’s time for him to attend school. He knows how to share and interact with others.

What are your Happy Thoughts? No limits, no requirements, just tell me hap-ee thoughts today! (I need it!)
This is not a thankful post - I just need thoughts that make you happee!

Here’s mine:

The Spiritual Food we all had last week-end.  It gave me the strength I need to focus on the things that really matters.  Whatever life throws me, I’m in good hands.  I have to have faith in God that he will help me through adversity.  :)

The 4 days without work.  This is the much needed break that I need.

Little boy.  His kisses and hugs are the very things that keeps me going.  It is also the onlly thing that can take the tiredness of the day.

Loving hubby.  I don’t know what to do without him.

We were able to do much progress on our TIPID PLAN.  Our grocery expenses this week were down to 50%.  M0rn1ng and I are very proud!

Join the fun here:)

Finally! I felt relived

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Home, Mommy Talks

I’m talking about the yaya. We only got 8 days to show patience and long suffering and after that she’s gone. This is our second household help since our little boy was born and she’s been with us a little over a year now. When we hired her, she didn’t know anything about childcare and housework. We did our outmost best to teach and train her but to no avail. Masyadong masakit na sa ulo and sobrang dami ng kapalpakan. It reached the point na kahit libre na sha eh ayaw na namin. We just want her out to relieve us with the current stress that she brings.

I haven’t vented it out in this blog not until now because I don’t think it will bring any good. Late last year we were already looking for a replacement but we weren’t able to find any. So we stuck with her.

Two weeks ago, an opportunity presented itself and someone from our congregation is looking for a part time job. M0rn1ng and I spoke about this and we agreed to get her as a replacement. We will do away with any house help and just hire a babysitter to look after B.boy in the late afternoons while M0rn1ng is at his food cart biz. I think this new arrangement will work as my sisters have pledged help with the household chores.

So by the end of the month, our current and long time headache will be gone. I couldn’t be much happier. :)

Typhoon Frank

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Mommy Talks

It has been a stormy weekend. So how are you? I hope everyone is safe and unharmed. I woke up at around 5am this morning because of the gusty winds and I remember the maong pants hanged in our verandah. I fear that it might be flown someplace else. So I woke up M0rn1ng who then took them off the clothesline. Then true to my fear, there is one that is caught up in our roof. Good thing that we were able to retrieve it.

The power went off a little after that and strong rains followed. It was raining heavily since this morning so some of the streets in the neighborhood were flooded. Despite that, we were still able to attend our Sunday meetings at the Kingdom Hall.

Now I realized that it is now rainy season. I’m so happy that we got to go swimming last June 9 before the rains began. B.boy had a fun time at the pool. Before he was so afraid to go to deep waters but this time he enjoyed it because of the pool toys we bought. Maybe next summer he will be up to swimming lessons already. :)

Coins

The little boy was with me when I was preparing for work yesterday morning. He did not bug me much because he was busy playing with coins inside our piggy bank. He gets each one out, counts them then drops them back. We noticed that he enjoyed playing with coins recently. Who knows he might interested in collecting certified coins someday.

A lot of people collect this as investment too. They view this as better vehicles than stocks because of the volatility of the stock market. They are forced to diversify and look at other ways to invest their money. Most of them are buying these certified rare or gold coins through MONEX. It is the trusted leader in precious metals investments in nearly 40 years.

Refreshed and Recharged

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Just Me, Travel

It was a declared holiday yesterday and it was perfect timing as I am so exhausted for the past week. The demands at work is overwhelming add to that are my problems with our helper at home. It drained my energy. I needed some time to think, reflect and find a better way to do the things in the office and at home.

Yesterday, we went to Laguna for the congregation outing. It was just what I needed, warm fellowship with friends and time to just lie down and rest. M0rn1ng took care of the little boy while I slept. They were having a grand time at the swimming pool.
Later we sang our hearts out at the videoke machine. It was great and I woke this morning feeling recharged and energized. I think the R&R yesterday has achieved its purpose.

Singapore Trip Day 2

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, Travel

M0rn1ng and I woke up at around 7 am. We took a bath and planned our itinerary for the day. We have to go back to our friend’s house in Marine Parade because we forgot to bring the battery charger for our camera. We need to walk a few distance to get to the bus stop to be able to catch bus #55 which is the shortest way to get to Marine Parade. It is hard to find the right way to go if you only got maps to assist you.

We had breakfast and B.boy woke up at around 10am. We left Serangoon at 11 and reach Marine Parade Neptune Court Bus stop at 11:45. However, heavy rain was pouring and we only got one small umbrella. We need to get to the other side so we will definitely get wet. We just waited for the rain to stop.

dsc05281.jpg

The heavy rains subsided after 20 minutes and we were able to find our way back to our friend’s place. We had lunch and planned our way to Sentosa. We boarded a bus that took us to Eunos MRT station at around 2pm. Then we transferred to purple line and hopped off at the Harbourfront Station. From there we rode a cable car to Sentosa. It was the boys’ first cable car ride and they were very excited. We bought a tour package at SGD54.80 each which includes: round rip cable car ride, Underwater World, Dolphin Show, and Cineblast. It also comes with the guided tour, island admission and sentosa bus or sentosa express ride. I think these tours are better because of it’s convenience. You avoid the queue to ride the buses and you have a guided tour. Just choose the one that is most applicable to your needs.

dsc05286.jpg

We reached Sentosa at around 3:30 and we met our tour guide in one of the souvenir shops. We boarded the bus that took us to the underwater world. We had a great time looking and touching some of the fishes and stingrays. The little boy loved the colorful corals and fishes. Their fish tunnel is also very beautiful. It make you feel that you are under the sea.

dsc05295.jpg

dsc05314.jpg

dsc05330.jpg

Next stop is the dolphin show. It was our first time to watch something like this. The little boy was clapping his hands while the dolphins are doing backflips. They even asked for volunteers who don’t mind getting wet. As a reward, the dolphins gave them a peck in the cheek. Awwww! We should have brought extra clothes had we known.

dsc05338.jpg

After that we went to watch extreme log ride at the Cine blast. We had a ride of our lives because of the latest high definition wide-screen projection, digital technologies and state of the art 6-axis motion system. At first we were afraid that B.boy will cry but thank goodness he did not. On the contrary he actually enjoyed it. I think the little boy is made for scary rides.

dsc05342.jpg

The tour ends with that and we boarded the bus to Beach Station to buy tickets for the Songs of the Sea. It is a mesmerizing show with a live cast and dramatic effects like pyrotechnics, water jets, brilliant lasers, special computer imaging, stunning flame bursts and captivating music. What can I say? The little boy was really amazed with the whole presentation. Tickets are sold at SGD6.

dsc05347.jpg

dsc05353.jpg

We went to see the Merlion after and rode the Sentosa Express to Vivocity. We had dinner at Food Republic, their very own food court. It was very nicely decorated, very far from the usual mall food court that we have here in the country.

dsc05369.jpg

The little boy did not take the afternoon nap during that day. I guess he was enchanted by the place and the experience. We saw that twinkle in his eyes and the look in his face that he’s having the time of his life and that is enough to make our hearts swell with happiness.

He fell asleep while we are on the train going back to Marine Parade. We arrived home at 11pm.

Singapore Trip Day 1

Published by nice under Andre Miguel, M0rn1ng, Travel

We left the house at around 5:45 pm. We were at the airport at 20 minutes later and much to our dismay, the flight was delayed for an hour. By 7:30 we were done with checking in and immigration. We had dinner and went to the kiddie lounge to kill time. B.boy had a great time playing with the blocks and slides.

dsc05218.jpg

dsc05225.jpg

We boarded the plane at around 9pm. We noticed that B.boy has colds but good thing that he is still his usual playful self. We had cup noodles and crackers on the plane. We dozed off after.

The plane landed at around 1:30am. Our friend was there to fetch us and we arrived at their home at 2pm. B.boy has a slight fever so we were a little worried. He wasn’t feeling well in the morning so he took paracetamol. He was better at lunch time so went to Singapore Zoo. We noticed that the fever went back so we decided to drop by at our friend’s house at Serangoon. We just had lunch at Ang Mo Kio and we boarded bus number 73 to our friend’s house.

dsc05237.jpg

They are our neighbors before and they migrated to Singapore last May 5. B.boy and their little boy are good friends so they are so happy to see each other again. The little boy dozed off. He woke up at around 5:30pm and we had an early dinner at around 6pm. We head off to Night Safari after.

dsc05249.jpg

We were there at around 8:30pm. We took the tram that will take you around the park. It was amazing to see those wonderful animals bathe in moonlight err, in subdued artificial light but it has the same effect. The tour took around 45 minutes.

We went to see the creatures of the night show afterwards. They’ve got trained hyenas, owls, otters and snakes on the show. The show lasts for 30 minutes.

We were hungry after that so we grabbed some burgers at Bongo Burgers and headed back to our friend’s place at Serangoon. It was around an hour travel without the bus waiting time. So we were dead tired when we reached home.

Since B.boy missed his friend, they played until 1am. Only when we reprimanded them that they got ready to bed.

Some useful info…
