Nursing Assistants

Published by nice under Career, Education, Health

Gone are the days that high school students will take up law or engineering or accountancy. Students nowadays mostly take up nursing to increase their chances of working abroad and earning a significant amount of money.

But one parents says that nursing is an expensive course too. Parents should have lots of money to be able to send their children to nursing schools. Well, nursing assistants is a good alternative. You only have to undergo cna training and take up cna courses in cna schools. It is less expensive and takes less time too.

This is a great alternative for those who do not have the time and resources to pursue a nursing degree.

Jobs Abroad

Published by nice under Career, Education, Health

We just had our annual physical examination at the office a few months ago. I usually take time to complete this because it is a great way to gauge how healthy I am at the moment. I am specially concerned on my xrays results because I have weak lungs ever since and the pollution in the city makes it worse.

I was chatting with the x-ray technician and i was surprised to know that they are also in demand abroad. He said that he specifically took x ray technician course so that he can find a job overseas.

He also adds that life is very difficult in our country and he will get a lot of pay as xray technician either in the US or Canada. Makes me really think how worse the situtation here in the Philippines right now. I’m still thankful that M0rn1ng and I got jobs that can still support our family. But I’m not sure if that will still be the case if we get another child.

2007 Recap

As we welcome the brand new year, let me have a look back on the year that 2007 was. I can describe it as an adjustment period for me as a working mom and for M0rn1ng as an entrepreneur. I hope we were equipped to handle these roles better this 2008.

January – We bought a booster chair for B.boy. It has been a good training for him to eat beside us every meal.

February – Planning our first out of town trip with my mom and dad.

March – B.boy turned one year old and I’ve hit my one year breastfeeding target. Morn1ng and I also applied as auxiliary pioneers and we found a lot of Bible studies.

April – B.boy is now walking on his own. We also had our first out of town trip at Tagaytay with my mom and dad. Later on the month, we went to Bora for more fun in the sun. This time we were with Morn1ng’s whole family. April is loads of fun.

May – We went to Ilocos for vacation. Our nanny did not come back with us because she is pregnant and decided to just stay in the province. Morn1ng started his panwich business and by the end of the month, we found a new nanny. This is a month of new beginnings.

June – A turning point in my career. They announced reorganization and I was tasked to lead a new team. I was quite apprehensive as I lost my old team members in place of new ones. B.boy also had his first movie and train ride. I also had my very own website (www.nicemorning.net) and started on blogging for money.

July – We had our Circuit Assembly and mama was with us. Our laptop also arrived from the US. We are so happy. B.boy also had his first slippers.

August – I had my dear cat back at home. We also went to Tagaytay Highlands and had loads of fun. My sister went back to Denmark to work on their office project. We also started our nappy cake business.

September – B.boy has learned all about shapes. He can insert all the shapes in the proper places. We attended youngest sister’s function at school. We are so proud of her for organizing such a successful event.

October – We celebrated our 5 years of togetherness at Antonio’s Tagaytay. We also got an insulated bag to transport our panwiches from home to the office. I also started a new blog that focuses more on motherhood.

November – B.boy started saying “opo”. He also had his first visit to the dentist. He also had his first crayons.

December - We went to Ilocos to visit my mom and dad.  They were thrilled to see the many tricks the little boy has for them.

Online Education

Published by nice under Blogging Benefits, Career, Education

Sometimes we need to get additional degree to boost our career. And what a better time to think about that before another year begins. Some are hesitant because of the busy schedules that they running. They reason out that there is simply no time to study.

This is where online education can help. There are a lot out there to choose from, one of them is Capella University. It was chosen as a finalist for a Minnesota Tekne Award in the “Technology User” category alongside Ecolab and Honeywell. It is an accredited fully online university based in Minneapolis. They offer online learning for 101 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate programs.

This might be the thing you’re looking for to boost your career on 2008.

Trips

When I was younger, one of my dream jobs is something that will offer me frequent travel abroad. I consider that exciting, as I want to see a lot of places. So I was so happy when the company that I work for sent me to Korea for a month. It was a one of a kind experience. While I was there, I realized that it is hard to be away from home and you suddenly get sick. The company haven’t given me any travel insurance. Good thing I didn’t have any asthma attacks while I was there.

When I got married and had a child, I didn’t want to take any business trips anymore. It’s hard to be away from your loved ones and visiting other places is no longer fun without them.

I Feel A lot Better

Published by nice under Career, My Thoughts

There is always sunshine after the storm. I feel a lot better now. I’ve finished the self assessment and the stakeholder reviews on time. Good thing, I can access all the systems at home. I did it all at my bed. I’m so happy because I’ve finished it all in just 2 hours.

Thank goodness for the monthly reports that kept track of all what I did during the year. I hope my boss will give me a good review as it ties with the compensation they will give next year.

I also finished packing all our clothes and we’re ready to go to Ilocos tomorrow. I just need to do some of the assignments as I won’t be able to blog when were there. Baka magalit yung mga nagbigay ng assignments kung di ko magawa in due time.

I hoping for the best and I hope we can relax and unwind on our vacation.

I’m Dead Tired

Published by nice under Blogging Benefits, Career, Office Tales

This is a very unusual day. There are so many tasks in the office not to mention a lot of issues that needs sorting out. Before I knew it, it was already 6pm and I haven’t expressed milk for the little boy the whole time. Waaaah! He has a lot of milk in stock so I decided to just pump once a day. I kept postponing and postponing and I totally forgot the time.

I did three conference calls and 1 live meeting. I want to write something good and creative here on my blog but don’t have the time and energy anymore. I hope tomorrow will be better. I have a lot of stories to share. I just need some quiet time to write.

While i’m Away

Since I didn’t get to go to the office yesterday, they called me home to ask about the old reports that I did. Our company recently bought Reuters and they are on the process of integrating the two companies. As such they need to look at the operations of each and every team. I was told that they need some figures from the 2005 monthly report to evaluate.

I was upstairs when the phone rang and since we have problems on our cordless phone battery, I had to go down to accept it. I told my teammate where to find the files. I was grateful that I could count on her for covering up for me while I’m away. I’m also thankful that she understands my situation. I just hope she’s not having a difficult time because I’m not there.

Headhunters

A friend was recently upset because she was bypassed for promotion. She was working hard on getting it for the past three years so she way disheartened to know that it was given to somebody else. She doesn’t know why their manager made that decision but it really dampened her spirits.

I understand her because she is very skilled and dedicated to her work. Sometimes it is not what you got but who you know that makes you get ahead. I told her that maybe it is time to look for greener pastures. The credentials she has is something that headhunters are looking for. I advised her to look at their sites and they will be able to find the perfect match for her.

I hope this lifts her spirits.

Key Man Insurance

Published by nice under Blogging Benefits, Career, Office Tales

A lot of companies firmly believe that their employees are their most valuable asset. I’m glad that the company that I’m working for holds that same ideal. This is the reason why we get optimal training to hone our work skills. For this year alone I got 4 needed trainings for my job function.

In one of our management trainings, it has been discussed that a lot of companies get key man insurance. Companies insure a key employee against death or incapacitation. Key men may be an executive, prinicipal shareholder, or anybody who has a large impact to the company.

Boost your Career

Looking for a new job? If you feel like you are on the rut in your existing work, why not seek greener pastures? But where do you find a better one you may ask? Try the executive recruiting firms. Most of their websites display posts waiting to be filled. Who knows you might fit the bill.

I’ve always want to be hired through such recruiting firms because they have the knowledge to hire someone who is the best fit to the job requirements. They also have incorporated a search function in their websites that enables you to look for jobs that you may be interested to apply. This is really perfect if you really want a career boost.

So why not seek greener pastures if you feel you are qualified to take more responsibilities and would like to climb the corporate ladder? A dream would only be a dream unless you do something about it.
