Insurance for Us

Last December 2009, I was able to upgrade my life insurance policy with my Sun Life insurance agent. I showed Morning the new plan and he thinks that this one has the right coverage for me and better benefits as well. The policy is a combination of life insurance and savings. Morning and I always believe in life insurance because we all don’t know what will happen to us tomorrow. We are also contemplating on getting our little boy his own life insurance as well.

Recent HK Trip

You might wonder what happened to me for the past couple of weeks. I hadn’t been updating because I was so busy. I went on a business trip last week. It was the first time that little boy and I was separated and did not go to bed together. It was really heartbreaking the last night before my departure. He was begging me to bring him along. He and his dad stayed in my in-laws’ place for the whole duration of it. He did not cry but he doesn’t want to talk about anything related to mommy. They said it’s his way of coping up.

I was busy the whole week. The workshop runs from 9am to 5:30 and I have to do a bit of work after that. I usually leave the office at around 8pm. That leaves me so little time to spend time with my former office buddies who were transferred to HK. It didn’t give me enough time to shop as well.

It was only on my last two days that I was able to buy something for our little one. I was tempted to buy him a VTECH laptop but M0rn1ng reminded me that her sister already bought one. I am left to choose between a grocery shop set complete with a make believe Honeywell Barcode Scanner and an International Airport set. I choose the last one because he is very fascinated with planes and helicopters. I made the right choice as he loved it the moment he saw it.

It was so great to be reunited with my boys last Saturday. I felt that there is no place like home.

Busy Week

As usual, last week was still busy in the office. I took a leave last Monday and we had loads and we as a family had loads of fun bonding. We also met Ate Bebe at Trinoma. We had a great time catching up. You know, stuff that friends seldom see each other do. :) I’ll make another post for this.

We also bought the little boy to his pedia and he was given a shot. I was so proud as he did not cry at all. The doctor gave him a bottle of bubbles as a reward. This needs a separate post as well together with the pictures.

The rest of the week was spent with all the office stuff. We are all very busy because of our expansion. I was getting all the quotes for PCs, IP phones and even office furnitures that we will be needing. I also coordinated with HR regarding Job descriptions, recruitment process and timelines. My boss also sent me a large list of applications that needs to be tested in the next couple of months and see if we can access these without any problems. I know this is going to be a busy year but with proper planning, I’m hoping that we won’t be cramming and end up getting too stressed.

I’m a bit sad because I don’t have much time to devote online these past few months. But I’m building something offline and I hope all my hard work will pay off in the long run. Happy Weekend! :)

For the First Time

…I won something from a raffle draw. There has been a referral program that we had in our office. I was able to refer 1 candidate and i got a raffle ticket. The major prize is a Sony VAIO laptop. There’s also a Sony DSLR Camera, Printer, and Cellphone. I secretly wished for this Digital Photo Frame and surprise, surprise! My name was drawn out of the 700+ raffle entries.

It’s my first so I think it is noteworthy to blog. :)

MIA

That’s what I am for the past couple of days. Things are crazy at work again and there is so much for me to do and accomplish offline. In as much that I want to blog, I don’t have the time nor the energy to do so. I feel so mentally drained when I go home after a long day at work. But unlike last year, I don’t have resentments as I slowly learn to love what I’m doing at work. I can feel the challenge but gone is the overwhelming feeling of not being able to surmount it. I know have the quite confidence that I can pull it through and I just need time and concerted effort. Friday, I’m happy how things came to be and the works of my hands. I hope my boss and the people I work with will appreciate the efforts and hard work.

Now I can breathe. And while the little one is asleep, I pick up the online life that I temporarily put in the shelf. I need update, research on some of the topics I want to know more about like Mesothelioma, and of course plan our Bora summer getaway. A hard worker deserves some rest eh. :)

Good Review

I had my performance appraisal last week and I am glad that it was better than I expected. It feels good to have your efforts appreciated, given that I had an extremely difficult time at work last year. Wider feedback from colleagues were also good so I hope the company values my work and considers me as one of the assets they would grow and keep.

I know I will embark on another unknown journey of change this year but with me are the lessons learned and skills developed from last year. I still pray that I could manage stress properly. There are nights that I couldn’t sleep because of some issues or problems at work. Let me find peace when I need it and let there be resilience on tough times.

How will this rating translate to pay? I don’t know. Despite everything and anything, I am thankful that I have a job and God graciously provides more that what is needed. We are grateful and content and we do seek for more. In contentment there is much peace and happiness. :)

Few More Days Left

…before 2008 officially ends. I only got 2 more working days in the office and I’ll be off to enjoy my week long vacation. We’re not going anywhere as we prefer to spend this one week cleaning the house, catch up with old friends, share in the ministry and basically just hang around the house. I have to list down some of the basic things that I should do in the next couple of days:

  1. Finish my self assessment and wider feedback (Dec 23-24)
  2. Appointment with the Dentist (Dec 24)
  3. Clean our closets and get rid of those stuffs we seldom use (Dec 25-26)
  4. Hold a garage sale (Dec 26)
  5. Visit our friends at Marikina (Dec 28)
  6. CBS year-end party (Dec 27)
  7. Spend the night at my in-laws (Dec 27 / Dec 31)
  8. Provide lunch for the C.O. (Jan 1)
  9. Need to check current life insurance rates (by first week of January)

So, it’s going to be a busy week ahead. I hope we can generate some money on the garage sale as I’m planning to buy a study table and chair for B.boy. :)

Busy

I was supposed to do this entry this morning but I was too busy with a lot of things at work. People are cramming to input all their sales in the system so that they can go on their holiday. My boss will be away starting today and I will be his back up. I hope nothing will go wrong as I don’t want to much stress this holidays. I need to recharge and be full of energy to face 2009. I know there are a lot of challenges ahead but I am going through this with a bit of hope and faith than last year.

2008 was really a rollercoaster ride for me but I’m still thankful for all that happened, good and bad, things that made me laugh and cry. Because I’ve learned a lot from these and it indeed made me stronger.

I know I have been neglecting my blogs but I got no choice. Full time work has to come first.

Trip to Memory Lane

We seldom pass via EDSA except when we are having our convention in the northern part of the metro. We live in Makati and I also work in the vicinity plus we got all the places we need to go nearby so we really rarely go to QC unless it is something important.

Traversing EDSA is always amusing as there are a lot of billboards that can chase the boredom away especially when stuck in traffic. Have you seen Dingdong Dantes big ad for Bench? hahahaha! I’ve also seen a lot of high tech ones which features digital signage. It is sure to capture anyone’s attention.

However, there are a lot of people who oppose these billboards. First it can be distracting to drivers. Second, it can be hazardous when there are typhoons and strong winds. Remember the damage these things brought during the super typhoon Milenyo? So how about you, do you think these things are okay or dangerous? :)

Last Week of December

I’m so excited with the upcoming one-week vacation this last week of December. It is perfect for out of the country or out of the town trips. Honestly, I’m itching to go someplace else. Say, Westgate resorts? No doubt that would be fabulous. However, I promised myself to restrain on our spending. We have to save save save as we don’t know what will happen next year. I’m not even sure if our company will be hit badly by the financial crisis and would have to cut some people. I pray not but it’s better to be prepared than to be sorry.

So yes, vacations would have to wait. Anyway, we already had some great holidays this year already. Probably we will spend the week cleaning the house and getting rid of the old things that we no longer need. A garage sale is on the list. :)
