I Need To Focus Today

Published by nice under Just Me, Office Tales, Spiritual

There are a lot of things to be done today. I have a couple of conference calls then meetings with my boss. I left the office late yesterday because I finished all my backlog emails. I will have no time to take a look at that today.

I also have to leave early as I have a part in our Theocratic Ministry School. Good thing that I woke up early as I had a head start at the day. I was able to reach my blogging quota. The only thing left is to write about diet pill reviews. I love it when everything is on schedule.

I hope I can focus on all my To Dos for the day. :) Anyway, Friday is a day away. I can’t wait.

Some Updates

Published by nice under Just Me, Office Tales

I know I hadn’t been updating much these past few days. As usual, I’ve been very busy with work. Other than that, this bed weather day makes me feel soooooo lazy. I’ve been dragging my feet to get up in the morning. I miss the warm sunshine.

I’m still stressed out with work. I think I lost some weight because of all the problems that I have. I try to be positive and detach myself so that when I go home or during the weekends, I won’t think much of it. But I tell you that it’s been a struggle. Oh well! At least I don’t need to take diet pills to look fit. Hahahaha!

I’ve been thinking and praying about my situation and we hope to make good judgement. We just need time. Sorry I can’t be more specific than this one.

Btw, thanks for all those tags. I’ll do them one at a time to please bear with me. :) Have a great Tuesday everyone!

So Busy

Published by nice under Office Tales

We’ve been busy these past few days in the office. It started off on Monday when we have to unpack and settle in our new area at the 17th floor. Yes after 4 long years we are having new computer desks in another office floor. It is quite a difficult move because we’ve stayed quite a long time in our former area and we made lots of friends there. But nothing is constant except change itself.

The team is so caught up in a lot of projects. There are 4 new products to be launched in Asia and Japan and we haven’t finished everything that’s needed for the launch. We haven’t put them in the system yet so it’s still not orderable and the release date is looming. We hope to be finish in the next week or so. We need cooperation from concerned groups so badly.

There are also a lot of issues in the daily operations side that needs to be fixed. Oh this new role is killing me. But I shouldn’t let it affect me. I just do whatever I can and accept things as they are.

I hope I would be able to bloghop in the next couple of days. I’ll do the tags friends…just give me some time. :)

Career Decisions

Published by nice under Office Tales

A really timely email I got. I want to post it here just to remind myself of the gems of wisdom it has for me. Hope you guys find it enlightening too.

AN OPEN ADVICE ABOUT CAREER DECISIONS:

Several of my staff has approached me lately about their career decisions. I really appreciate my staff opening up to me. It is quite reassuring to know that they’re still having second thoughts about leaving. Here is part of the email I sent to a “confused” staff:

I have worked for more than 5 companies already so I guess you might be correct in saying I have had considerable experience about leaving and moving on. I will not stop you nor tell you to leave, though of course it will be better if you stay. In any career decision, leaving or staying I believe, based from my personal experiences and as an HR professional, should only be done for the right reasons.

For one, you shouldn’t leave because you don’t like several people in the company, nor should you stay because of the friends you have made here. At the end of the day, it is your life. Your friends or “enemies” should not make or break your career. If you let them be the deciding factor, then maybe you should think twice. You are the craftsman of your fate and the captain of your ship. Captain Hook shouldn’t be one of your worries!

Do not leave nor stay because of the “brand” of your company. If that was the case, I would have rushed off and sign my JO in “C”! Ask yourself whether you want to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a bigger pond. Know your priorities. Only you can answer that.

Do not leave the company because you’re so damn frustrated about the way things are being run, or stay because you have this “messianic complex” that you can change things overnight. Be realistic about the things. Learn to accept that there is no perfect company. Be accepting that change is a slow and painful process at times and be thankful that you realize and act on things that can be changed and improved.

Definitely, do not leave or stay just because your parents want you to. I know I am advocating obedience to parents but again, we are talking about YOUR career. But learn to value their wisdom and discern well.

Money isn’t everything. The package being offered now might be better but look at the long-term prospects. Do not leave or stay just solely on the compensation package. Look for growth prospects and review their career plans for you. Your immediate gains today might actually be a loss a few years from now if you do the Math.

Boredom is another challenge all professionals are faced with during lull periods in their career. Do not leave because you have become so bored with your job. Do not stay either because you want things as they are. Change is inevitable in any organization. Talk to your boss. Ask for more responsibilities or other tasks if you’re bored. Enroll in a special course. If you’re satisfied with the status quo and is just waiting for
retirement hoping things will stay the same, you’re in for a big disappointment - either you will be forced to change or you will be forced to leave. Be ready before that time comes. Boredom or complacency is a perennial battle most professionals have to deal with. Arm yourself with creativity everyday!

Tonight I suggest you rest well. Sit still and listen to what He is saying. PRAY. I have always made my career decisions through His guidance.

He was and still is my Career Adviser/Talent Manager. Your work, our work, is a vocation. He knows us more than we know ourselves so trust Him for whatever plans He has for you. You can never go wrong.

And remember: Use your head to get to the top. But use your heart to stay.

My PC

Published by nice under Office Tales, Technology

Last year during this time, my computer at work was acting up. It automatically shuts off and it is a huge pain because I have to remember to save my work from time to time. I will lose all the things that I’ve done if it shuts off before I manage to save my work.

Our TechOps finally found out the culprit. It was my video cards. Yes, I got two for my dual monitors. So it was replaced. But that did not last long. I got a completely brand new PC after 8 months.

I wonder until when my PC will be at optimal performance.

Busy to the Nth Level

Published by nice under Just Me, Office Tales, Travel

It’s a busy day again today. It seems like my days have been busier and busier and it is all because of work. Trying to balance it with other aspects of my life like family and spiritual pursuits has become very challenging.

One thing that keeps me going is looking forward to the Singapore trip on Monday. I can finally break free from work in the office and stress. I’ve delegated all my tasks to the team and discussed each one. I hope there won’t be any big issues coming up so they won’t have to call me when I’m having the well-deserved break.

I’m just cramming at the moment because I haven’t prepared for the trip. I didn’t have time to research on places notable to visit and to dine. I hope we can still have a worry-free and good vacation because of that. Anybody who would like to give me tips? I need that badly.

Then, I have to finish all my blog assignments. Have to write about gazillion of things like office space Connecticut, walk in tubs and other stuff. I think I won’t be able to blog hop for the next weeks and after my return because there will be too much to catch up with work.

Enjoy the weekend!

It’s back!!!!!

Published by nice under Blog, Gadgets, Just Me, Office Tales

You might have read the post about my phone flushed in the toilet last Tuesday. Then I’m happy to say that I had it back. My sister and I were having this conversation at the 8F canteen at lunch time.

Sis: Do you know that the 8th floor CR is under repair?
Me: Really? Which stall are they fixing?
Sis: The one on the leftmost corner.
Me: That’s where my cell phone dropped.

It must have cause blockage so they are fixing it. I received a call from my husband at around 4pm.

M0rn1ng: I have good news for you. They’ve rescued your phone.
Me: Really? Are you kidding? How did you know?
M0rn1ng: Somebody from your office maintenance called me up. Apparently, your SIM is still working and they found “mahal ko” in your contacts. I told them to return in to you at the 18th floor.

A little while after, Manong guard returned my phone. I don’t have the face to show up to the maintenance guys who brought it back. I just asked manong to thank them for me. They are still wondering how did the phone got in the toilet bowl.  (Amore was right)

I’m not sure if the phone can still be repaired. I’ll check and see tomorrow. It’s still good news that the SIM is still working. Even though I already got a new one, I can still have my existing contacts transferred. I’m so happy! :)

And oh, this blog got its PR back. It’s back to PR2. Happy weekend to all! :)

Have To Keep This On Mind

It’s the job that’s never started that takes longest to finish

-Tolkien

Such words of wisdom that I should keep in mind.  Instead of being overwhelmed with work that it paralyzes me into action I should start working on it.  No more procastinating.  No more fear.  I gots lots of work to do.

It Went In a Flash

Published by nice under My Thoughts, Office Tales

I was referring to the month of March. This has been my busiest ever and I know it will continue as our company integrates with the other company that it bought. I didn’t write about it much because I don’t want to dwell on negative things. I guess it will be sufficient to say that this has been my thoughest working year ever. There are a lot of conflicts, pressure and stress.

And there’s that uncertainty about the future. I’m still unsure on what will it bring this year. I wish I have the option to just resign and stay at home. But that is not possible at the moment. So I don’t have any option but to wait and see. Still, uncertainty stirs up fear…fear of the unknown.

Anyway, I’m preparing myself for whatever the future brings. I will just ride with the flow and see where the current will lead me.

Toxic!

Published by nice under Just Me, Office Tales, Travel

Maybe you’re wondering why I hadn’t been blogging much lately. If truth be told, I’ve been tied up with work. I’ve been into too much work, pressure and stress. I don’t want to dwell on that. I just want to go on and survive each day. But there are times that I want to give up.

Or maybe I just need a break. All Inclusive Cancun Vacations will be great. Spending leisure time on the idyllic white sand beaches of Riviera Maya will do wonders to refresh and rejuvenate my tired mind and body.

And there will be great food. I’m dreaming…someone stop me please.

Team Dinner @ John and Yoko

Published by nice under Food and Restos, Office Tales

I’ve been caught up with a lot of work recently that I don’t have time to blog about recent happenings. So allow me to back track a little bit.

We had a team dinner last Feb 29 at John and Yoko at Greenbelt 5. Yup, it pushed through despite the ongoing rally at Paseo de Roxas. Here are some pictures.

We all loved the food. I especially like the salmon sashimi because it was so fresh. Kainis lang because I didn’t have the chance to take a picture of the food because my batteries went caput. Here’s the sole food picture I have.

Service was great and we were well attended by their servers. They have an outfit that will register in your mind. Women servers wear black mini dress with matching knee high boots. Their hair has a blonde highlight too.

Price is a little bit on the high side. Expect to shell out around 600-800 bucks each.
