I haven’t updated this blog with where we are during the recent holidays so allow me to backtrack. We were invited by my good friend Mitzie to visit their home in Pasig. I was thrilled because the last time we saw each other was when we’re still both pregnant. Our babies were born exactly a week apart. Hehehe. We met each other in one of the e-groups that we joined. We instantly hit it off because we share the same faith, we’re both newlyweds and we got pregnant almost at the same time.

We usually chat using YM and I am happy to have found a friend. The meeting was nice too because we also met each other’s husbands and kids. B.boy had a grand time in their playground especially on the slide.

We just exchanged stories and had some merienda. Her husband whipped a very nice tuna salad and mango float. We brought some baked spaghetti that we shared during the visit.

Their place also a big pool and Mitzie was laughing at B.boy because he calls is “dagat” (beach). Hahaha! The little guy thought that every big body of water is considered a beach. It was a nice visit and we enjoyed ourselves with their company. Many thanks for havingus over Mitzie!

Baby Stuff

One of my friends is an expectant mom. She’s already in her 6th month of the pregnancy and she’s starting to baby some baby stuff. I can still recall how happy we were when we started buying thing for our baby back then. She also wanted to breastfeed her child and she asks on what breastfeeding supplies she should get. Since she’s based in the UK, I showed her a good site called tommeetippee.com.uk. It has a wide range of breastfeeding supplies, from manual pumps to breast milk storage bottles. I told her to look at those because she also planned on going back to work a few months after giving birth. So she has to really find a good and reliable breast pump and a lot of breast milk storage bottles. I think I used around 20 4 ounces bottles when B.boy was still a few months old.

I also loved the weaning supplies in that site too. I specifically loved the Magic Grripper mat that will avoid slips and mess for young eaters like my son. I also told her to get some of the food pots and lids as it will come handy once she start feeding solids. She can cook in batches and freeze them in these containers for everyday consumption. It is better to cook food at home than buy those artificially prepared in jars.

I hope she finds my suggestions useful.

Maternity Wear

c-3421462-r-1.jpgThree of my workmates are pregnant, talk about baby boom. Since their tummies are getting bigger, they often complain that it is difficult to find something to wear. I told them that being pregnant is not an excuse for sloppy dressing. There are a lot of hip maternity clothes out there. Some of the designs are really nice and stylish. I’ve forwarded them a nice website called kikifashions.com. They’ve got a good line of short sleeves, tank tops, bottoms, dresses and skirts. There are also some items that are on sale. I specifically love the red dress here. Unbelievably! It only costs $30.

I’m sure pregnant women would love this site.    :)

Baby Talk

Baby Talk

It’s my 31st week of pregnancy. Acoording to pregnancy books,Andre is now a bit over 3 pounds. No wonder i’m sporting this penguin walk nowadays. (hahaha!)I can still sleep though not as soundly as before. Now i have to get up quite a lot of times to pee. Our prenatal check up last Monday was good. OB was pleased that I didn’t gain any weight the past 2 weeks. She was quite worried for my last check up revealed that i gain a whopping 10 lbs in just a span of 1 month. I think I overindulge thinking that for the past 5 months total weight gain was just 12 lbs. Good thing that eventhough there was a rapid weight gain, blood sugar and blood pressure was normal. So for the past 2 weeks i cut down on carbs. I think it worked well for I didn’t gain a pound.

I’ve included photos of Andre’s stuff here because i wanted to share the joys of buying things for the baby. I might say that this is one of the things we enjoyed most during the pregnancy.

We started to canvass November last year. Armed with our list arranged by priorities, we checked out shops selling baby things. No, we didn’t buy anything then. Just went around and searched for good buys. December was the “swelduhan” in our paluwagan. We used that as our funds to buy Andre’s things. Good thing that we joined paluwagan, there were funds ready at our disposal when we needed it.

Our first buys were the tie side shirts and onesies from Bel-air. We found this through my e-group. I loved this store! They sell quality baby clothes at an affordable price. During our first visit we were able to buy burp clothes, bibs, onesies, frogsuits, bonnets, and mittens. We were really surprised that Carter’s onesies cost only 70-100 bucks. Way cheaper than other baby stores we’ve visited. Last month we went back to buy receiving blankets and towels. Oh i would love to drop by there again…but maybe not. I might have those panic buying attacks again. hahaha!

We were also able to buy Baby 1st postable 3-in-1 bassinet, diaper changer and playpen. It comes with night light, mobile with rotating toys, mattress with vibration, and music. We waited for it to go on sale that’s why we bought it at 27% off.

The Avent bottles and breastpump are quite pricey here so we asked SIL to buy those in the US. That way we can get it for half the price. SIL informed Morn1ng last week that she was able to buy already. Yipeeeee! Many thanks ate Vivz!

There are still some things we haven’t bought. We’re not hurrying for we still have 2 months to go. Besides, someone might organize a surprise shower party. *wink* *wink* (Pasensha na assuming mom2b po ako) :p

This Blog is ALIVE!!!!!

This Blog is ALIVE!!!!!

I used to think that this blog would be forever buried in the abyss of oblivion. It seems like pregnancy dampened my desire to blog. The past few months after the wedding was quite a rollercoaster of emotions however I lost interest to express my feelings in writing.

We had a great wedding and a super sweet and memorable honeymoon. However, when we came back to settle in our nest I had this sudden rush of depressing emotions. Until now I still couldn’t figure out why. The only thing that I could think of is CHANGE. I thought I had prepared myself for the changes marriage will bring but I was mistaken. It has nothing to do with M0rn1ng for he is very loving and very easy to live with. I’m having issues with myself…the monster in me emerged. I have this perfectionist attitude. Always wanting to do everything right and perfect even if it is beyond my limitations. I want to be the best at work, best homemaker, best regular pioneer, best wife. Before long my health suffered due to unnecessary exertion. Yes, I had my asthma attacks that won’t go away even with medication. I’ve been sick, couldn’t breath and couldn’t sleep. It was a terrible time. I know I have no one to blame but myself. I’m pushing myself to hard…beyond my limits. There are some things that I must accept that I could no longer do due to my change in status. Once I’ve learned to accept, I slowly regained my balance. I thank God for M0rn1ng’s patience and unwavering love at this low point of my life.

2 months after the wedding, we were blessed with a baby. To be honest it was a shock to us at the very beginning. We didn’t expect our bundle of joy to be given this soon. However, every child is a gift from above and we are honored to have this privilege of being parents.

The first 3 months of pregnancy was an extremely difficulty time for me. I had morning sickness and migraines the whole day. It was at this time that our elders talked to me about pioneering. M0rn1ng and I have been praying incessantly to guide us to reach a decision in accordance to HIS will. In the end, sadly and with many tears we decided to give up pioneering for a while. I still miss those days when I can do a lot in the ministry, share in the early and night witnessing. I take the consolation that Jah is happy as long as our service is whole souled. We still devote our weekends for preaching and conducting bible studies. I know Jah is happy for he continues to bless our efforts.

Thankfully the horrendous first trimester had passed. I am feeling better on the 4th month onward. I was also able to visit my mom and dad in the province by November. Needless to say we had a great time bonding.

We also had our District Convention and we saw one of my sister’s bible studies get baptized. It was such a wonderful time to experience Jah’s loving arrangement to feed HIS loyal ones.

By December, my OB told us to have an ultrasound to determine our baby’s gender. All along we were expecting a baby girl. We even named her Sophia. But lo and behold! The sonogram results showed that we are having a baby boy. Surprise! Surprise! It took us a long while to think of a new name. We were not prepared for the naked truth. (hahaha) In the end M0rn1ng and I finally agreed on the name Andre Miguel.

I am now on my 30th week of pregnancy. A few more months more and we will be able to hold our precious baby in our arms. We are so excited! We’ve prepared a few things necessary for our little Andre: lots of prayers, lots of parenting books, baby’s clothes and crib. We both hope that everything will turn out fine and our baby will be born happy and healthy.
