PBA Game Live

Morning and I will be watching basketball game between Ginebra and Smart Gilas (RP national team composed mostly of college and amateur players) on Friday October 23. It will be my first time to watch a live game and it will be held in Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. Morning is doubly excited coz’ he’s a die hard, loyal, since birth, true blue Ginebra fanatic and he’s gonna spend the game with me. I know we’ll both enjoy the game and may best the team (Smart haha) win.

Manila TRansformers

dsc_0048.JPGWe have a company event last Saturday. The whole purpose is to inculcate the company values through fun games and play. It supposed to start at around 2 but there were heavy rains and there weren’t a lot of people around. The band kick started the whole program followed by the cheering competition. Then we had some warm up exercises by Fitness First.

The games began soon after. It was slightly different as these were all Filipino games that we used to play during our childhood days. There’s patintero, dodge ball, tug of war and sangkayaw. I’m happy because I used to play these games on the street during my younger years. It brings back happy memories with our neighbor playmates.

Here I am trying to win the race. We we’re so close to being proclaimed the champion. We went through quarter finals, semis and finals. This is the only talent I have when it comes to sports. I’ve never been good at any: not at basketball nor volleyball. I’m especially worst when it comes to ping pong. I couldn’t manage to keep the ball within the ping pong table. But then again, maybe I just need practice.

We we’re all famished at dinnertime and some even had to come back to the buffet table a couple of times. All in all it was a happy event and everybody had a great time.

Global Pinoys

Have you seen the Metro June Issue? The cover page feature is Leah Salonga and the main theme is about Global Pinoy. So is it any wonder that Leah is the cover page? Included on the list are Manny Pacquiao and some businessmen and women like the owner of Zen Zest.

I also chanced upon Toni Leviste. Her accomplishments as an equestrian are really something Filipinos can be proud of. She also looks good in that issue, her equestrian breeches suits her well, just like her friend Mikee Cojuangco.

Pacman Knocks Down Hitman

And so it is over. We did not expect that it will be done and over in just 2 rounds. Hitman was just wide open and focused on offense rather than defense. Pacman was in his top form and they really prepared for this game. He was conditioned and focused. It’s too much for Hatton to take.

The whole nation is celebrating with the “Pambansang Kamao”. I’m pretty sure that his whole entourage in Vegas will have one great party. The news said that he even paid band member’s airfare so that they could be there. That’s what you call awesome Vegas vacations. :)

Sports

I noticed that one of the BIG bosses is sporting a tanned look these past few weeks. I got the chance to catch him when I was at the elevator a few weeks ago and commented on his tan. I asked him if he has been at the beach lately but he said that he was playing golf on the weekends.

I think golf is a good sport but it can really do some damage on your skin especially if you do not put any sun block on. He also said that he’s enjoying his new sport a lot and has been buying some golf equipments such as golf clubs. Well, it’s an expensive sport at that but if you can afford it, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t give it a try.

As for me I still prefer more action sports such as swimming and basketball.

Cars!

We’re reading the newspaper last night when we chanced upon an advertisement for Benz. I am surprised with the price. It said 142,000 per month for 6 years. Wow! That’s a lot of money that only rich people can afford. I wonder if other luxury cars costs as much. I can imagine that its parts are hard to find and costly too.

I’ve seen a website that supplies Ferrari parts. They assure that their parts and accessories are original and provide a wide selection imaginable. This is good news for all car lovers out there.

Boxing

Everybody is waiting for Manny Pacquiao’s match with Oscar dela Hoya. I bet most of the Filipino wealthy supporters of Manny will be flying off to US and will be staying at las vegas suites just to watch the live match.

Most people think that this is a mismatch and Manny is just doing this because of money. Do you agree? I don’t have much to say as I was never a boxing fan.

Dela Hoya vs. Mayweather

We Filipinos love boxing and this is heightened when a lot of our boxers like Luisito Espinosa, Gabriel “flash” Elorde and Manny Pacquiao rose to fame. I guess this is really a sport where Filipinos excel in. We have world-renowned boxers to boot and that is produced without even proper support from the government.

Since boxing is a popular sport here you can see almost all the folks glued to their TV sets whenever there is a match. One of the matches that is being awaited is the Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch. For those BIG people who has money, they are already looking into buying Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Oscar De La Hoya tickets. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN that the bout is “almost finalized” for September 13 or September 20.

The last fight between this two took place on May 5, 2007 in Las Vegas. Mayweather Jr. won by split decision in 12 rounds. The match was one of the most lucrative boxing matches that generated $120 million revenue.

I wonder who will come as winner in the upcoming match? For sure this will be a bout that boxing fanatics would not dare to miss.

My Uncle the Cowboy

My uncle who now lives in Texas is a true blue cowboy. He loves cowboy films and horses too. If he has the money, he would like to buy his own horses. But since it is possible at the moment, he’s contented to watch rodeo shows.

National Finals Rodeo is one of the most famous rodeo event in the US. Wrangler jeans is the title sponsor of the 1-day event most popularly known as NFR or sometimes as Super Bowl of Rodeo. It has seven events namely: bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, bull riding and barrel racing. Barrel racing is the event for women. These showcase the skills of cowboys and cowgirls. The winner is awarded the World All-Around Rodeo Champion.

This event is extremely popular so that you will find that National Finals Rodeo tickets are usually sold out. My uncle buys them in advance so that he is sure to watch it live.

He has watched these shows for the past couple of years and he buys tickets as early as now. The event will take place on December. I find it OA but he says that this is the only way that he can get the best seats available.
