Baguio City

Horse back riding is not very popular in the Philippines but horse racing is. There are only a few places wherein you can enjoy riding horses for a small fee. One is in Tagaytay where the climate is mush colder compared to Manila. And the other place is Baguio city which is the summer capital of the country. We haven’t been to Baguio in more than 5 years and we are planning to visit the place hopefully before the year ends when it is really cold there. Biboy can try wearing his equestrian apparel while riding a horse in Burnham Park. I know he’ll look good in pictures wearing it. I also wanted to go to the strawberry farms and teach Biboy how those berries are picked fresh. Maybe a 3 night stay in Baguio will be Ok. Here we go Baguio.

Last Sunday, we went to Los Banos, Laguna with some of our friends for a whole day swimming adventure. Ofcourse, Biboy enjoyed every minute of it.   We arrived as early 7:3o in the morning and left the place at 6pm.  They had 1 big pool and a childrens pool.  I’ll post more pix later. The picture below is the bigger pool.

Paradise Island

Jamaica is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Situated in the Caribbean Sea just 95 miles south of Cuba and about 480 miles from Miami, Florida, it is indeed a land of evergreen mountains and valleys, lush tropical vegetation, cascading waterfalls and beautiful white sand beaches fringing a serene blue sea. Visitors have nothing but praise for the scenic beauty of the Paradise Isle, as the land is called. You’ll always remember having your dream jamaica vacations with your family this summer.

B.boy’s First Camping Experience

This is again a late post.   (December pa kasi to when we went home to Ilocos)  It deserves a blog post as it is one of our little boy’s many firsts.  It was my dad’s idea for him to have a camping experience.  We were supposed to do it at a beach resort in Currimao.  However, that day turned out to be very windy and cold.  So we just decided to use our empty lot near Currimao and use the old building structure instead of pitching tents.

My dad invited a lot of kids from their congregation along with their parents.  We had a very nice bonfire as you can see here.

We also had a rice cooking contest between daddies and their kids. The challenge is to produce the best cooked rice using just the bamboo as rice container. My boys were one of the contestants and we came in third out of the 5 pairs who joined. (wasn’t bad noh?)We also had a rice cooking contest between daddies and their kids. Off to Ilocos

At last, we were able to book our flight to Ilocos with Cebu Pacific Air’s P499 airfare. Biboy we’ll be going to Laoag on December 16, to spend a 9-day vacation with his papa and mama. My parents are so excited that they will get to see and enjoy their only grandson for more than a week. They usually see Biboy only twice every year. Countdown: 29 days to go.

Carrying Money on a Trip

One cannot travel without money these days. To carry much cash is very risky, and in some countries your home currency may not be easy to exchange.
One safe way is to carry traveler’s checks. The type of currency you use depends largely on where you are going and what is happening in the money world. Traveler’s checks can be cashed in banks, hotels and many retail establishments anywhere in the world.
Surprisingly, you may not get the same exchange rate for your traveler’s checks in the same country. Hotels usually offer lower rates of exchange, while some retail shops offer higher exchange rates to obtain your business. So it pays to make inquiries and compare exchange rates.
It is also advisable to cash a check only when it is necessary. If you obtain too much local currency and do not spend it, you can lose money when exchanging it into another currency.
An internationally acceptable credit card can also be convenient to have, although this is not as flexible as traveler’s checks.
Many find it wise, too, to take out travel insurance, which can cover loss or theft of possessions and expenses incurred due to sickness, accident, or even delay caused by strikes.

Long Vacation

2010 is just around the corner. People in the office are starting to decorate the place in time for their holiday celebration. Although we don’t celebrate Christmas, I’m still looking forward to grocery baskets that they will be giving away to all employees. We will also receive giveaways, corporate holiday cards and ofcourse our 13th month bonus. They will also have their party on the first week of December while we hold our own religious convention on that same week. Biboy will also visit mama and papa in Ilocos on the last week of December. I just can’t wait to have a one week vacation in my hometown.

Wanted: Horse

We are planning to visit Tagaytay before the year ends. Morning wants to stay overnight and try horse back riding with Biboy in Taal Vista Lodge. I just wonder how our little boy will look like wearing those horse riding apparel complete with riding boots, breeches and helmets. I tried looking online for those stuffs but found them expensive. Maybe, we’ll get Biboy his own horse first.
